Today, young entrepreneurs in Europe are coming up with a plethora of innovative and successful ideas, some of which are being replicated by American business owners with varying degrees of success. One such concept gaining popularity is the anti-cafe model for dining establishments, which are popping up in almost every major city. However, the reality is that many of these venues close their doors within 1-1.5 years of operation, leaving their regulars disappointed. Coworking was not conceived as a business venture by California programmer Brad Neuberg in 2005. His brainchild, initially named "The Hat Factory" and based in San Francisco, aimed to blend the perks of a "free-spirited artist" with the structure of office work, while also offering freelancers the chance to do the same.
