Dog Underground Dwellings

Our beloved pets often struggle with uncomfortable temperatures while living outdoors. Short-haired dogs may feel cold in the winter, while long-haired furry friends can get too hot in the summer. An innovative solution to this issue was devised by American inventor Tommy Miller. His creation, the DogeDen 60, offers pets a resting place not above ground, but below it.

Why is this necessary?

The temperature below ground is more stable and less dependent on weather conditions. It is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter (similar to how basements are constructed). Therefore, a dog will feel more comfortable in such a shelter. Interestingly, it was Tommy Miller's own four-legged companion who inspired him with this fascinating idea. One day, he observed his dog, Zig, digging a hole in the ground and seeking refuge from the heat inside it. Hence, the dog demonstrated how naturally regulating temperature this way could cool its shelter.

How is the underground dwelling constructed?

The DogeDen 60 is a solid, waterproof structure with the entrance located above ground and the sleeping area below ground. To make it easier for the dog to access the dwelling, special steps are installed. There are models with elevated entrances for situations where the kennel may be situated in a water-prone area. This underground shelter is suitable for almost any dog breed weighing up to 30 kilograms.

Today, the cost of one such kennel is approximately $200. They are already being successfully sold and bringing joy to pets in the USA, Canada, and over 30 other countries worldwide.
