AIR WAYBILL
AIR WAYBILL — a contract of carriage for air freight; it is completed by the shipper and handed to the carrier along with the cargo. An air waybill is typically issued in three original copies and six duplicates. The first original is signed by the shipper and kept by the carrier; the second is signed by both and accompanies the goods to the consignee; the third is signed by the carrier and also accompanies the goods. Copies are kept by the carrier, shipper, consignee, departure and destination airports, and customs. In addition to serving as a contract of carriage, a document of title, and a receipt for the goods, an air waybill in international transport also functions as a customs declaration.
