Abrogation — (from Latin abolitio, meaning cancellation) 1) the formal repeal or annulment of a law, decision, or agreement; 2) the elimination of an official post or removal from office; 3) the dismissal of a criminal case before guilt is legally established (distinct from a pardon); 4) the official retraction of slander to restore a person's reputation.
